Hey, That’s My Fish! is a quick 20 minute game for 2-4 players for ages 8 and up.
In Hey, That’s My Fish!, players are trying to gather as many fish as they can with their group of penguins. This is a very simple game with great strategic depth. It has a tendency to get mean too.
Based on the amount of players each person may have between 2 to 4 penguins on the board which is made up of hexagon tiles placed beside each other in a square. Each tile has either 1,2, or 3 fish printed on them. Players take turns moving one of their penguins and continuing with the next person around the table. Penguins can move as far as they want in a straight line as long as they don’t cross another penguin or and empty space. Once a penguin moves the player that moved it picks up the tile that it had moved from and puts it aside into their fish collection. As players move around the board more and more of the glacier disappears and penguins start to get trapped. When you can no longer move any of your penguins you are done. Once everyone else is to a point where they cannot move their penguins the game is over and they count up their fish including the spots their penguins are stranded on. The player with the most fish wins.
My Thoughts: This is one of my favourite “filler games”, games that you can break out while you are needing to waste a few minutes. It is the perfect mix of simplicity and aggressive strategy.
This could be just the friends and family I play with but those little penguins can be mean, trying their hardest to strand their colleagues on ice flows. Maybe you will play with nicer people….maybe. The tiles are a nice quality and the little penguin figures are a good plastic and the box has a great linen finish which shows quality. The art is fun as are the different molds for each penguin. You and your family will have a good time with this one.
For the Parents:
Violence: One of the penguins seems to be punching or shaking a fist. Maybe he’s just running.
Sexual Content: None.
