We are all sinners, everyone

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 3:23). “As the Scriptures say, ‘No one is righteous—not even one.'” (Romans 3:10)

Because of that we deserve punishment

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23). “They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power.” (2 Thessalonians 1:9). “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” (Matthew 25:46).

But God is merciful and he gave us a way out

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). “Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18).

Eternal life is a gift from God through Jesus’ death.

“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved…” (Acts 16:31). “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9). “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” (Ephesians 2:8). “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20).
